7th Annual Cars In The Park - Cancelled
July 15, 2020
Dear Cars In The Park Participants, Vendors, Sponsors, Volunteers and Annual Attendees,
It is with a heavy heart that we must announce the cancellation of our 7thAnnual Cars In The Park fundraising event scheduled to be held on Saturday, August 15, 2020.
Based on the current health and safety guidelines for indoor and outdoor events for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, an event of our size will not be able to occur until Phase 4, of which that date is still uncertain. To view the complete guidelines, you may visit https://www.mass.gov/doc/phase-iii-step-1-indoor-and-outdoor-events-protocol-summary-pdf/download. As a result, we have had to make the difficult decision to cancel this year’s highly anticipated event for this summer.
Moving forward with the cancellation of our event, we have a few options for you regarding your payment for this year’s event. You may either receive a refund that will be processed within the next few weeks, apply your payment towards next years event on August 21, 2021, or make your payment into a tax-deductible donation towards the Whitin Community Center. Please contact us so we may make the proper adjustments to your registration and/or to process your refund. Cars In The Park is a significant fundraiser for our 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Donations are gratefully accepted online at www.WhitinCommunityCenter.comby clicking the orange Donate button in the top right corner of our website, or you may send a check to the Whitin Community Center, 60 Main Street, Whitinsville, MA 01588 with CITP in the memo.
We look forward to seeing you all on August 21, 2021 for an amazing celebration to make up for lost time!
All the best,

Greenway Challenge - Cancelled
July 20, 2020
Dear Greenway Challenge Participants, Volunteers, and Annual Attendees:
We were looking forward to celebrating the 20thAnniversary of our wonderful Blackstone River Valley Greenway Challenge – “A Race Like No Other!”
So, it is with great disappointment that we announce the cancellation of this year’s Challenge, scheduled to be held on Saturday, September 26, 2020.
Based on the current health and safety guidelines for indoor and outdoor events for both the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and the State of Rhode Island, road races and other large, outdoor organized amateur or professional group athletic events will not be able to occur until Phase 4 – dates in either state are still very uncertain. As a result, we have made the difficult decision to cancel this wonderful community event this fall.
The Whitin Community Center, which took over the event four years ago, is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization. The Greenway Challenge, along with other significant fundraising events, have had to be cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In addition, the pandemic had forced the closure of the Whitin Community Center in mid March. Only this month has the WCC re-opened on a partial basis with limited hours and capacity.
Many of our Greenway Challenge sponsors (including my own “Ski With Charlie” organization), have pledged continued support during the pandemic year. We want to make sure that the Whitin Community Center survives and continues to offer critical programming to our community, thus ensuring that the Greenway Challenge will return in 2021.
We invite YOU to do the same. Please consider donating your 2020 Greenway Challenge entry fee ($65) or more to support the great work the Whitin Community Center does. Tax-deductible donations are gratefully accepted online on the Whitin Community Center’s web site (www.WhitinCommunityCenter.com) and look for the orange “Donate” button in the upper right corner on the homepage. You may also send a check to the Whitin Community Center, 60 Main Street, Whitinsville, MA 01588 with “Greenway Challenge” in the memo.
We look forward to seeing you all on September 25, 2021 for “A Race Like No Other!”
